Husain Abdul-Alim

Wood Carving

About the Artist

I am Husain Abdul-Alim, born the second of seven children to Frederick and Iris Adger, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I am the proud father of three adult children and a grandfather. I was educated and raised in the City of Brotherly Love.

First introduced to wood carving in the boy scouts, achieving eagle scout. Introduced to our present style in 1968 while attending Cheyney University where I earned a B.S. in education. I earned a master degree in Sports administration at Temple University, while also attending accredited courses at Philadelphia college of art and Tyler Art School.

I had taught chemistry for Philadelphia Board of Education for twenty-five years and was also emplyed as a recreation leader for the city of Philadelphia for twenty-eight years. Here we administrated day camps and arts and crafts programs- programs in wood carving and ceramics.

I retired my services in June 1997. We have brought our unique style of art to Arizona this past July. We have been living in Cornville, and plan to stay in this beautiful state for quite awhile.
