"As a lettering artist, taking the symbolism of speech back to its ideographic roots excites me. My goal is to use a quotation containing its original meaning, history and rhythm as a visual translator."

About the Artist

Lettering artist, bookbinder, and stonecarver, Sid Freeman has been studying calligraphy since 1981 and with her Fine Arts background she opened up "shop", Freeman Calligraphics in 1987.

"Historical models offer a dialogue with the craftspeople of the past; I feel their presence in every letter I make. The challenge now is to build upon those skills and compete in this computer age."
