The Ellen J.D. Roberts Story:
Ellen Dahlberg was born in March of 1972 and grew up in Chicago.
She attended all public schools and excelled. If you can believe it, she was actually double-promoted from 1st to 3rd grade, and then transferred to a program for "gifted students".
Anyone who knows Ellen now might say, "Wow, you used to be smart...whu' happen?"
In 1984 she was selected to attend the Young Artists program at the Art institute of Chicago. Way to go, Ellen!
She won a scholarship to the Univ. of Illinois @ Chicago School of Art and design, but transferred to Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, 2 years later, where she completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1994.
Now is as good a time as any to discuss the Volkswagen topic. You know how they say that silly bird was kookoo for Cocoa Puffs? Well this girl is kookoo for Vintage Volkswagens.
She met Chad Roberts in DeKalb Illinois. He lived in the room below hers. They got married atop Starved Rock, overlooking the Illinois river, July 1st 1995.
One month later they were living in the various national Forests of Northern Arizona in a vintage pop top camper.
Chad and Ellen later moved into a tiny weird house in East Flagstaff in March of 1997. Ellen was accepted into the Jerome artists Cooperative Gallery. Ellen and Chad had fond feelings towards Jerome, so on Nov. 1st, 1997, or "!Dia de Los Muertos!" they moved to this tiny weird apartment in Jerome.
In Feb2001, Ellen and Chad bought a historic brick bungalow in nearby Clarkdale built in 1914. Our house is a very very very fine house.
Ellen now works for the Verde Canyon Railroad as group coordinator.
