About the Artist
I have been painting for over 25 years, but it was not until seven years ago when I took my first pastel workshop that I was immediately hooked on this medium. Then came a pastel workshop on "sanded paper" and that was it - the oil paints and brushes were put away.
Developing a landscape or portrait on "sandpaper" gives a depth of feeling that is unique for pastels. The "sandpaper" is not your common everyday hardware store variety, but a very fine grade of artist's sanded paper imported from Germany. The tooth in the paper allows for a buildup of color and a blending capability other papers do not offer. It is a very exciting media to work in because each new painting brings a challenge as well as a learning experience.
My paintings are in homes across the United States as well as Canada, China, and parts of Europe. I have also done several commissions for various corporations.
Painting is not just something I do - it is something as fundamentally necessary to my well-being as breathing.
